Family Support Matters

At Makeda, we understand that recovery doesn’t just affect one person, it touches everyone connected to them. Families often carry their own wounds: confusion, resentment, guilt, or fear. As your loved one begins the hard and beautiful work of rebuilding her life, it’s just as important for you to receive guidance, tools, and support. We view family not as bystanders, but as active participants in the healing process. When approached with care, clarity, and boundaries, family relationships can become powerful allies in long-term recovery.

What We Offer Families

Makeda House provides consistent support for loved ones throughout a resident’s stay, including:
• Weekly family calls with staff to offer updates, education, and boundary setting support
• Education on the recovery process and how family systems can shift to support healing
• Referrals to outside family therapists and support groups (Al-Anon, ACA, CODA, etc.)
• Optional in-person visits, as clinically appropriate

• Optional Add-on Family Coaching
• Support with post-treatment transitions, including boundaries, communication, and role shifts

Our Approach

We encourage families to show up with openness, not perfection. Recovery is a process for everyone involved and that process gets stronger when families stay curious, do their own work, and release control.

When families engage with honesty, compassion, and boundaries, outcomes improve. Relationships can be rebuilt. Trust can be earned. And healing becomes a beautiful shared journey.
